No bait required.
These are the best. I don’t use bait but it does have a bait door. I place the traps strategic where rodents would travel ie against walls and on both side of garage doors. I’m starting to put around perimeter of my home. Caught 2 in a month. I think the cold is bringing them in.I don’t use bait because they I am inviting rodents to come in.I have pets also so I am happy the traps are closed or contained within allowing me to put traps on patio with safety in mind for my dogs.

Best rat trap ever.
These are SO effective with a quick humane kill. No poisons to harm other predators or to let the rodent crawl off and die who knows where in your home.

Very effective
Use to trap ground squirrels and they work. Also killed a bird this year. Only dislike is the piece where you load food is hard to twist out for arthritic hands.

They work
These traps work but be sure to follow instructions and use gloves to handle. If you don’t you won’t catch anything. Also not 100% kill. Caught one rat by the leg (had to kill it) and a ground squirrel by the leg (released it) Peanut butter worked best.

worth it
these traps by far have been the best traps i have bought. i have bought several different type traps rainging fromt he victor snap traps, bucket traps to even live traps. the hole design is a great idea. even if the rodent doesnt go for the bait inside the cup, they try to crawl through and bam, they are caught. i have caught more rodents with these traps in the few months i have had them than the others that i have had for several months. there haven’t been any misses or accident triggers. the way you set the traps are safe and easy to do. even the release of the rodent is easy. somethimes they will drop straight out when press down on the handle. i recommend these traps over any traps made. even thought they are for rat size rodents they will catch mice as well and are easy to bait. just take the bait cup out of the bottom. i have been using bacon grease and nuttela. they haven’t went for the peanut butter so i changed the bait in those traps and will see what the results are tomorrow.

Great traps, easy to use, and they actually work!
The traps are easy to set, easy to add bait, easy to empty, safe to handle, and work perfectly. My hoarder neighbors have a rat infestation that spills over onto my property occasionally and I caught a rat a day for almost two weeks straight. These are not little tiny pet store rats, these are big juicy rats a foot long stem to stern. No idea what that review about rats not fitting into the trap is about — the rats bothering my property are dinosaurs and the trap gets them no problem. You insert the bait safely through the bottom of the trap, and can change the bait easily and safely. My only minor quibble with the product is that the bait cup is pretty small. I’d love a way to put a bigger and more attractive chunk of bait in there but frankly, just sticking a chunk of Reese’s peanut butter cup in there is working just fine. Also, I have absolutely no idea whatsoever why I’m asked to rate a spring-loaded rat trap on its scent but, hey, it doesn’t have a scent so five stars for that awesome feature I guess?

These are heavy duty and block anything you wouldn’t want to see. I have had kids and pets around and they go unnoticed. I have got a few critters with this item and each time it goes unseen and not disturbing. They are very strong when being released.

Two of my three traps don’t trigger for mice
I got three traps. One of them has caught 5 mice in 4 days and I haven’t even debated the trap – absolutely awesome. BUT two of the traps do not trigger. I have had to debate each of the two traps 10 times in 5 days because the mice can sit there and clean the peanut butter and dog food without triggering the trap. I must have gotten two defective traps. When I kick or attempt to trigger the two defective traps, nothing happens. The trap that has been effective sets extremely easily upon touch. That’s what leads me to know something is wrong with two of the three that I purchased. The successful trap has been easy to use. I wish they all worked like that one.

These are solid outdoor rat traps.
These work. They are not flashy, but they are effective. You need to understand that your enemy is cunning though and after a few uses will learn the danger. To avoid this issue, after one or two rats have been killed by each trap, you will need to disarm it, disassemble it and clean it some as there may be bits of rat inside it.That is the one pitfall of these traps, they are hard to clean. You’d think you can just run a hose through it but when you crush a rat, brains tend to get in odd places and cleaning can get a little rough, especially as you do not want to get rat on you.The bait cup can get stuck in the trap as it is a tight fit also but you can usually work it free. Overall, this gets the job done but its very gruesome.

Many neg reviews are not valid, but some are
I have so far caught 4 rats with these, but there is an asterisk I’ll come back to.Complaints that these don’t catch anything, they probably placed in the wrong spot. Rats navigate by feel, so you’ll want to place this against something (a wall, a hedge, etc.). Bait is important too. That they caught squirrels, why are you leaving these out all day? Rats are nocturnal; squirell diurnal. Place them after dark, pick them up in the morning, and you will not catch squierrels. That the don’t trip / lose the bait, what are you using. Loose bait can be stolen. You need something sticky. Sunflower seeds mixed into peanut butter worked like a charm for me.That it is too small for adult rats … well that depends on what you mean. This morning I caught quite a big fella, so they can fit in enough to get caught. If you mean the trap won’t necessarily kill a large rat, then you have a legit gripe. I had pull out a shovel and bash the thing multiple times. I did not feel great about that, and I’m down a trap. They are not hard to use, and successfully insta-deaths juvenal/early adult rats, but it helps if you have a pretty good sense in of your quarry.

Catches/Kills Rats
I’ve tried a few different rat traps. These are the only traps that have actually caught and killed any.The trap is very easy to bait, and a rat cannot get to the bait without tripping the mechanism, so that’s a plus. After it’s baited, all you need to do to set it is push down the outer tab until it locks in place. Since the mechanism is high tension this requires quite a bit of hand strength, and it isn’t as easy as it sounds for those of us with weaker hand muscles! On the bright side, they don’t snap prematurely – a snapped trap has meant a dead rat every time.Rats are extremely cautious creatures and I’ve found they will avoid any trap until they are used to seeing it in the same place for a while, so don’t be surprised if they walk around it for a couple of days. Eventually they’ll try to take the bait.

MISSING ONE FEEDER BAIT CUP
I buy a LOT from Amazon. Usually returns & transactions are easy. This time not so much. All I need is the bait cup that was missing on one of three units I purchased. I hope someone will see this and rectify the problem w/o me having to jump through hoops.Update: I used the trap misisng the feed cup by putting a small swab of peanut butter on a paper towel. It aught a rat last night just fine. I also caught another in my den. Bottom line is these traps work.

Quick and easy
Was trying to get this little mouse for weeks and was having a rough time with traditional traps . Seems like the little guy was too smart for those plus I have a little dog that I didn’t want getting trapped herself. So after seeing these I tried them and poof after an easy set up I laid them down and went out to the store and when I came back “ Frederick” had been caught and my mouse issue was gone. Thank you for the good product

Cat safe rat trap.
Our neighborhood has a number of outdoor cats and other animals that would eat rats so I will not use rat bait. Animals that eat poisoned rats will often suffer internal bleeding too. These traps are easy to set & easy to empty. They trigger with a very powerful snap which I am quite sure results in a quick kill. I suggest attaching a lanyard to them though as one of ours outright disappeared.

Amazing for Chipmunks
This is hands down the best trap you can use for chipmunks on your property. We were having a terrible time with them, bought a few of these. Emptied the trap near daily for about 2-3 weeks and then – no more problems. We catch about 1 per week now which is a great change and no problem with our home anymore

Works great when it kills instantly
We caught 4 roof rats with this trap over the course of a few weeks, but only two were clean kills. I don’t think the mechanism is strong enough to snap the necks of larger rats. We caught one adult that survived several hours with its neck in the trap, so we had to kill it ourselves. Sad and inhumane. We won’t be using this trap anymore.

Most Humane Way of Rodent Control
These are great & much less messy or tricky as regular traps. Plus, you won’t accidentally injure a wild animal or a domesticated one. The only caveat is that you can accidentally kill snakes with these. I was horribly dismayed that I killed a corn snake with this trap. And corn snakes kill rodents! The irony! Anyway, I’ve decided, for the sake of my corn & garden snakes, to only put this out when the climate is too cool for snakes. Which is fine. I’ll just wait until winter to rid myself of the tree rats that come to eat the fruit from my trees. The trap itself is super, super easy to set ! It’s also really easy to release the dead rodents and clean it. Plus, it should last a very long time since it’s mostly plastic. As with all things metal, eventually, the springs will be the most likely part to go but it will take many years. I’m never getting another trap other than this one. Poison is not only cruel but it puts the animals that eat the corpse at risk, too. This trap is the way to go!

Great product
I purchased these on Nov 22nd and caught the rodent on Nov 24th, which is awesome because I have tried sticky traps, the wooden slap traps, bait boxes, and nothing worked. This was all in the course of 2 weeks. After purchasing this product I was told by several different pest control companies to use bread roll it up in a little ball and put honey peanut butter on it and it should do the trick. Well with these tunnel traps and the breaded peanut butter it worked. I give these traps a 10 out of 10. Also super easy to use and love the fact you just push the lever down to release the dead rodent with no hassle and touch free the rodent just slides out.

Best trap out there
Bought the 3 pack and used peanut butter in the bait cup and caught it on the first night we set it up. These are large size perfect for rats, not even sure how this thing got into the house but he was huge a lot bigger than a mouse. I wouldn’t even hesitate to recommend these traps

Half worked, one came broken
I saw the trap triggered last night. I opened it to see what it caught and this tiny nose ran out, only it’s tail was stuck. Is panicking, I’m panicking. So I took the trap ,with the mouse dangling , outside. I was hoping my car would finish the job and put the thing out of its misery. Instead my cat looked at me like “ this is not the food I get every morning”. So currently the mouse has drug the trap around out there a little ways. The thing must have super mouse powers because it is tiny. And my car is just watching the show. I feel bad for it. I don’t like killing things anyway, but the fact it has to suffer m makes me sad. Also, one of 3 traps arrived broken. On a good note though, this is the only trap I’ve gotten that caught it. I’ve been trying for a month. **** Update**** The traps caught and killed all of the mice in my house successfully. That one must have been a fluke. I would recommend this for sure

Works as expected. The trap part is completely enclosed. No need to ever touch the vermin. Hard to pinch it open, for a smaller hand, but necessary for the strength of the trap. Did its job with peanut butter!

EASY TO USE. WORK GREAT
They work great. I have not needed to open the tunnel. I usually only see the tail extended from the tunnel and I have been able to squeeze the handle and shake the body out of the tunnel. I caught 5 in a month, coming out of a hole by my shed. I’ve tried everything to close the hole or make it so they don’t want to live there, but nothing works, so I bought these traps. I used peanut butter for bait. I have had success with these before. I am a woman and don’t like dealing with this, but I put on gloves, even though the rodent is contained in the tunnel, and have been able to dispose of them easily on my own. They are reusable, so that helps keep costs down.

Good product but two have broke out of the 4. I sent two of them up for a return, and they automatically sent replacements. I set it back up for a return and returned it, and it still says that a refund would be issued once the item is received and I’ve already dropped it off at a UPS store.

We have chickens and ducks, and rats are an unfortunate reality. I don’t think we can ever get rid of them, just trying to control the population, and these traps are absolutely the best. You might need to see what bate works best; at different points in time, bacon grease, sunflower seeds, and chicken pellets worked for me. I caught both small rats and huge ones, when only the head was inside, and most of the body was outside of it. No it’s my go-to trap, and I recommend it to everybody that ask.

Great trap!
It was easy to set up. Hint: I put my bait while I was holding the trap half opened. The trigger I think is pretty sensitive. I had those green poison blocks but I felt guilty having them suffer and I think an owl died from eating a rat with ingested poison. I used my remaining poison as the bait. Two of traps killed instantly within a week of use. Disposing was super easy. Just open the clamp over trash can and they slid right out. I washed out with a hose (not really any blood that I saw) and reset.Update: I’ve had these for a few months and they’re still great. I did get one rat that did’nt have instant death. No worries I made sure he didn’t suffer. Also had one trap clamp on the bait so make sure your bait isn’t blocking the clamp or make sure bait is not too big. Just bought more to cover a new veg. garden.

Exactly What I needed for Chipmunks
I had a chipmunk problem and it was getting worse. They were tunneling in my wife’s flowers, and when our Great Dane chased them she would, like a bull in a china shop, make the problem worse. Followed the instructions, added peanut butter to the little cup and set them outside in 3 random spots. Within 24 hours of delivery I had caught, removed with ease and reset for a total of 5 chipmunks gone. After one week of use it has slowed down a bit, but it has rained so maybe I need to refresh the peanut butter.Overall for ease of use, clearing the animal and keeping pets safe this was 100% worth it to me.

Kills them when it works, but doesn’t work for long
Unlike normal traps these force the rat to position just right for trap to kill it (others would pin a leg or skin forcing me to manually kill them unless they got away first). Unfortunately out of 12 traps I’m down to only 2 that still work. The catch that sets to trap to ready wears out quickly and after that it cannot be set again. Very limited lifetime. If it were a car I’d call it planned obsolescence. The latch should be metal or harder plastic so it doesn’t wear out so quickly. Sad, cuz they were amazing at first on rats raiding our peach tree, but now looking for something that’s built to last better.

THE ABSOLUTE EASIEST, CLEANEST WAY TO GET RID OF RODENTS!
I have purchased glue boards, the plastic boxes with the large trap inside, platforms over 5 gallon buckets and electronic units. These are the best and really do work. It takes care of mice as well as rats. We are in a rural area and I thought for sure rabbits were eating my garden, found out it was the mice, squirrels and rats. I am now winning the fight against these guys. Ever since I started putting these out, I have found that I am not waking up to a garden completely decimated by the varmints. I even gave one to a friend and he caught 2 in one night on the same trap without re-baiting! Also use in a carport area as the little buggers also like to chew on automotive wiring. So happy I found this product

Effective, safe, easy
A better rat trap than the old style! Easy to set, easy to empty, quick humane kill at the neck with no blood or guts. 1) identified where rats moved by looking for subtle trails and signs, 2) enlisted help from my dog by praising him when I showed him dead rat and he now knows the word and will sniff out and show me where they going under the porch, house, and garden. It’s a new game for him and his nose is always right. 3) trap trained rats for a week before I set it using a little sweet fragrant fruit peels like mango or peach that they seek in my garden, and put peanut butter and raisins in trap center to teach them to eat unfamiliar food 4) once they saw trap as a food source I set them in the evening with peanut butter and raisins in bait station and sprinkled a few enticement raisins in and beside tunnel to build their confidence in entering death zone. 5)Immediate success, from juvenile to large adult tree rats (rattus rattus). So far no wildlife, like squirrels or field mice, have entered trap even though they also rob my garden and fruit trees which I tolerate and let raptors and snakes manage. Keeping traps up against the house and areas with a lot of daytime human activity and only setting the traps at night helps keep native wildlife from being killed.

Most times kills
Bought these rat traps to catch roof rats. Unfortunately, a very small opening between our custom tub and wall allowed enough of a gap for a roof rat to find it’s way into the bathroom. We wanted a fast, humane way to capture and kill the rat and one which wouldn’t leave a body somewhere rotting where it was difficult to find like poison might do, plus poison seems really awful. We have other pets so this seemed the safest route. There is a very tiny cup in the bottom of the trap that you very easily unscrew, remove and put peanut butter in then replace. Then easily set the trap. We already knew the route this rat was taking so put the trap there and in less than 24 hours we caught the rat! Bingo on the first try. Couldn’t be happier. The trap worked like a charm. From all we have read, roof rats can’t resist peanut butter. The rat is NOT mushed up by the trap, just broken neck or suffocate s quickly so there is NO mess. Set two more traps and caught two more in the next 12 hrs. outside. Wish our neighbors didn’t have fruit trees, then we might not have these buggers around. Lived here over 20 years and never saw a rat till 2 years ago.Pros: Easy to fill bait cup, easy to set trap, not messy when it kills, easy to empty killed rodent into plastic bags, good size so will catch roof rats and probably little mice, no poison, fast/humane.Anyone who says these broke after one use must have been really stepping on the trap. We are just using our hands to reset the trap since it seems easier. We highly recommend this trap if you have a rodent problem.Cons: Does not always kill the rodents and they are still alive for hours in the trap unless you have another way to kill them. We find this VERY disturbing and inhumane. Several rats have been “crying” and trying to escape only to exhaust themselves to death. I think the trap just eventually suffocates them as they wiggle and breathe. Would be better if the trap was tighter to be sure of an instant kill than to be totally bloodless and inhumane. Not sure if a pet can get their paw into the sides or not? (Just don’t place it where they could). This trap all depends on exactly where the rodent gets caught in the trap as to if it kills outright or not. Most have died pretty quickly after the trap snaps but it’s heartbreaking to hear and see those who do not die instantly.

Garbage
TLDR: bait gone, trap not triggered.I ordered 3 of these and set them out with dog kibble both on the sides and in the bait cylinder. They were in a place where no dogs could get to them. 24 hours later I returned to see all 3 traps had been cleaned of all the bait, including the bait cylinders, and none had sprung. The instructions reference mice, not rats, so it shouldn’t take that much weight to trigger the traps, but obviously it does. I don’t know if it’s mice or rats that are taking the bait, but they are able to climb on the paddles safely.I looked at the mechanism and it appears that the hook holds the trap open is too long so I filed it back to see if that helps. We’ll see when I go to the shop later and I will update this review with the results, but out of the box they are a complete fail.Update: after filing the trigger hooks 2 traps had the bait removed and did not trigger. The 3rd one actually caught and killed a mouse. However, after that I was unable to get it to set again. It was a hair trigger after filing it down and apparently was only good for 1 kill. The pet protection idea is good, but the crappy plastic design means there has to be more weight than a mouse can generate to get it to stay in the cocked position, which essentially makes them useless. They tried to build a better mouse trap, and they did, but they failed in production.Hard Pass

Bought the rat traps
So we recently had a family of rats take up in my kitchen. Yikes.I was researching for a while trying to find a humane option. Glue traps are a really awful way to go, and poison is a bad death plus it puts wildlife at risk, and I have dogs too so I didn’t want them to end up poisoned as well. I looked into the electrical traps, but the problem is at like 50 to $60 a trap you only catch one a night, and judging by reviews, they don’t work as well as you would hope.So far these traps have been really great. I didn’t have much luck the first night, but then I realized that there was still some dog food they could get to. After I removed any other food option, I’ve been catching one in each trap every night. Each time the rat died quickly, except for the babies. I have had twice now where baby rats closer to the size of mice have gone in there and it’s just kind of like snapped on the back of them and they were still alive so that’s really unfortunate.I might try to pick up one or two of the mice ones but that’s not going to ensure that the babies won’t go into the larger traps so I’m not sure. Gross.Reading reviews on other traps, some say the spring stop working after 2 or 3 times and so far I’m on day 4 or 5 I think and they still work fine.Oh, they’ve been great with both my dogs and kids. No worries about them accidentally setting off the truck. Also, very easy to empty. Not as gross as I imagined. The jaw on the trap is pretty strong but it does not pierce the skin so there’s not like any blood or anything, so I have not been cleaning them after each use. I might take the bait door out today and take them out front and hose them down though. Doesn’t seem super necessary though. So far so good, would recommend.

Very good…
Easy to set up, no sticky glue, or anything. Just put some peanut butter and click.I purchased this 4 pack and also almost identical product from a different brand. They all work well…I installed them around the perimeter of my house and got them the next day.Well, I didn’t know that it is reusable…so today, I checked the trap and a poor chipmunk was caught. I put gloves and mask on…took a deep breath and tried to release the trap to throw away the chipmunk…It was kind of attached to it so did not come out…I tried to shake a little then I saw a gut was sticking out at the bottom of the trap…so I just put the whole trap in the trash bag, tied it hard and threw away in the trash bin…So it works really well for me. I could catch them before they get into my house. It also lured chipmunks, which was unfortunate…and I have no guts to reuse it…I just can’t….

Great trap for rats not so much for mice
Overall good product however mice can take the bait and not trigger the trap or get caught by their tails! Could stand tone a bit more sensitive from what I’ve seen so far

Great traps
I’ve caught 12″ long rats only able to fit in their heads as well as small mice. I also don’t have to worry about pets and small fingers so they can be placed 99% of the spots. Best style traps on the market.
