It works
These replacements are much better than the original wick sticks. These last longer. They are easy to install. They work. I use mine daily in a rural area and the mosquitos are gone, the flies are gone during winter. Summer, it is rare to see one enter the area of the thermacell. I have not had to replace my device in 2 years, and reorder the refills often. Hoping price decreases soon.

A little expensive, but they work.
I’m not a huge fan of the price point of the replacements, but they do help control the things that will bite you when sitting outside. But that’s how companies get you, make the device you buy pretty cheap and then charge you more for the refills. I’m looking at you inkjet printer companies!

Best bug repellent I’ve used.
Nothing like not having to lather on bug repellent spray. This allows you to enjoy a 20 ft radius between you and THEM….. You know , those obnoxious mosquitoes that over indulge and over stay their welcome. Stock up before the season hits and when the night is right, enjoy a starry sky without being dinner for hundreds of biting pests.

I was unsure of this mosquito repelling device when I ordered it.I charged it, loaded the repellent into it, and then placed it on our outdoor table. I turned it on for the warm up period (lots of mosquitoes buzzing around). Went back inside and prepared a cup of coffee. By the time I got back (about 10 mins) no mosquitoes!!!I’m usually swatting and waving the air all morning as I drink my coffee on the deck with the dogs in the morning. I’ve used it all summer and early fall. Works very well. An occasional unsuspecting mosquito buzzes by. But, as soon as it appears, it’s gone again!!Love it, going to purchase another so our outside morning area is larger. Easily covers our 8×20 deck!!

Great product
I really love the rechargeable thermocell mosquito repellent. It’s good, not as good as DEET, but no smell and my wife hates the smell of DEET. We use this several times a week on the patio and it works well.

The best mosquitoe repellent
This stuff is magic. FL is known for aggressive biting bugs and using Thermocell keeps all of them away from me. I’m a magnet for biting bugs ( blood type negative which I heard makes them love me) I definitely recommend this product. The biggest issue is HIGH cost of refills. That is unfortunately where they get you.

Really works!
There were a lot of little bugs and mosquitos flying around but I still wanted to sit outside because the weather was so nice. My husband noticed me shooing them away. So he brought out this little black container looking thing and said I’ve had this sitting around for a while let’s see if it works. He pushed a little button and I start to see a faint smokiness coming out of it. Not even really paying attention, then about 10 minutes later I noticed there were no bugs or mosquitos flying near us any longer! I was really impressed so I continued to use it and then we ran out of the smokey stuff. I purchased refills and voilà, back in action. It is so easy to replace, just pop out the old one and pop in a new one! Great little product! This is a must have year around!

This stuff definitely works for a small area like a garage or around a campfire even. It’s not super cheap and I wish the thermacell device these go into didn’t need to be charged after a couple of hours of use. Also, it takes about 15 mins to warm up and spread the repellent, so prepare.

Effective but expensive.
We used this only a few times at the end of last summer 2023, but found it very effective on our deck. instructions I believe say to start it 15 minutes ahead, but we usually forgot that step yet it still worked. We usually have a lot of problems with mosquitoes so this was a welcome break from our other prevention strategies like setting up fans, using repellent and wearing extra clothing. It definitely improved our experience while using our deck.

my cousin and his wife live in India and bought one of these machines when they visited the US a couple years ago and since then, these refills are the only things they ask for us to bring/send to India for them! in my experience, indian mosquitos are the worst, so I’m glad to find something that works

It Works
I read a review in the New York Times which was very complimentary to the product…so I bought one from Amazon. I tested it on my deck in NH…first without the device. Mosquitos were present. Then with the device…no mosquitoes.It pays to read the directions. I had trouble opening the device to insert the 12-hour fluid until I realized the two sections are held together by a magnet. ItIt runs on rechargeable batteries so no electric cord needed.When the initial reservoir ran out, I ordered a 40-hour replacement from Amazon and it has been running ever since,

Wicks broken on all three refills
Disappointed. Bought the rechargeable unit and a pack of refills 7-8 months ago. The unit worked great. I did not need the refills until last week. They had been stored in the original package in a sealed container. I opened the package while camping and all three had broken wicks. I tried to use them anyway but it seems the heater heats the part of the wick that extends out of the refill and this had broken off. None of them worked. There is no way to grab the broken wick and pull it up. I finally punched one of the wicks through and inserted a piece of Paracord to serve as a wick. It worked but used up the refill in a few hours. Packaging needs to support the refills better or the wicks need improved. These are way too expensive to fail like this.

Mosquito Bye-Bye
Great use for outdoors.No smell at all.Easy to recharge and refills are not that expensive.Works great.You just have to wait for a little while before it takes effect. Once it takes effect, you won’t see any mosquitoes in your area anymore.We use this for our camping trips.

I wish they cost less
I like the idea of this mosquito repellent but the cost is unbelievable. I hope they find a way to bring down the cost to us because who can afford to use these in the long run? They seem to work at repelling mosquitoes but the pods don’t last long.

Hope this one last more than two weeks
This product worked great but only for a couple of weeks the power button broke!I am going to buy another one(gluten for punishment) but I’m hoping that it was a fluck and work properly!

It actually works!
We were pleasantly surprised that this product actually kept mosquitoes away while we enjoyed our firepit outside. There was no detectable odor. I like that it is cordless/rechargable. The product does require purchasing refills of the cartridges, which last approx 20 hours, depending upon which ones you buy. There is a wick that you need to be careful with as it’s brittle and can break easily if you’re not careful when handling the cartridge.

No Mosquitoes!!!
Actually, there will always be mosquitoes; however, they are not buzzing around us while we sit outside and biting us. No need for sticky, stinky spray. Just remember to turn it off after using to preserve the leftover fluid for next time and then plug it in to charge it.

Don’t forget and leave it running…
Really amazing — put it in my garage (the mosquito resort), turned it on, came out a few minutes later and they were gone. I’m the guy that looks like a cheesecake to a mosquito, so I was quite pleased. But I forgot to shut it off when I was done in the garage, and it consumed a lot of the liquid.

7/29/22 – Updated ReviewAfter writing my previous review, I also wrote to Thermacell. Very quickly they responded and offered to replace the leaking refills. Today I received those refills and indeed they are much fuller that the original ones. The level of each now matches the picture on the front of the box and the cardboard is certainly not moist with repellent. I don’t know what happened to the original set but I’m very happy with the outcome; their customer service and the product itself. I am happily and eagerly raising my Overall Rating to 5 stars!7/23 22 – I will start off by saying that the Thermacell unit itself works and works amazingly well. We spent hours sitting outside on our mosquito infested patio and nobody got bitten. Not one bite! This was during prime mosquito time; early evening till close to midnight on 2 hot summer nights. This was absolutely unthinkable before the Thermacell.We were using it so much that I quickly ordered the 3 pack of refills. The box arrived and the celebration stopped. First of all the box was falling apart and was taped together. The cardboard of the box and the refills were moist with what appeared to be the repellent. In the attached picture you can see that the cardboard looks moist. (I included a piece of unblemished cardboard for comparison) It appears that the leaking repellent became a solvent for the glue holding the box together since the only thing holding the box together, at this point, was the tape that appeared to be added before shipment. The second picture shows the actual levels of repellent in the refills. This is really no more than the original unit came with, even though the replacement refill containers are actually larger in height. It’s also very strange that the levels in the refills are not consistent, which shows that a leak probably happened.Considering the cost of these refills is more than the original unit itself, I am extremely disappointed. I certainly hope they can do something about the design, or cost of the refills. This really is one product that works and I’d hate for this issue to keep me from using it.

Exactly as described
The refill came fast and is exactly as shown in the product images. Very easy to reseal using the protective cap and it’s easy to use in the rechargeable Thermacell models.It truly provides odor-free mosquito relief and is a game changer here in Georgia.Just make sure that this is the correct refill for your Thermacell model before buying (this works with the rechargeable electric models). The only downside is the cost of the refills, which is a little pricey, but at least this will last for 40 hours of use.

If you have mosquitos, you need Thermacell
Mosquito season was a nightmare in the Northwoods of Wisconsin this year. Friends told us about Thermacell and how incredible it is at keeping mosquitos at bay; so, we shopped around and bought both the lantern and the tabletop version in which these refills are used. These refills had more mosquito-fighting ingredients than what I could find shopping locally at a better price. I only used one of the refills from this pack and I’m ready for next spring/summer. If you haven’t used Thermacell to keep bugs away – I highly recommend you give it a try.

I love using these when I decide that I am going to go outside. It keeps the mosquitos away as long as its not really windy outside. I do wish they were a little bit more competitive on the price, but its definitely worth it if your not looking to get eaten alive outside. They work!

Good, but…
This awesome to work very well for mosquitoes. I’ve even found that if I put the cap back on the cartridge after each use, I get close to the full usage time expected. However, I am disappointed in the length of time it takes to fully recharge. It’s almost twice as long to charge than the length of time it will operate.

I want to believe this works
This *might* work to deter mosquitoes…*maybe*?? Hard to say. My yard is infested with Asian tiger mosquitoes, to the point where I’ll get multiple bites in the minute or two it takes to take out the trash. I’ll put the Thermacell on when we’re planning to be outside for more than a few minutes. Mosquitos do still bite even with it on, just maybe a little less? I have literally put the diffuser under my chair and watched a mosquito bite my leg several inches away… maybe it just needed more time to warm up?The refills do fit the thermacell unit just fine.We sometimes forget to turn it off at the end of our time outside, but even with that, these refills seem to last for a while before running out.

Nice and unobtrusive
This does make a difference in the ‘dive bombers’ that come out around dusk in my hometown.It could be easier to charge though if it came with a standard plug as well. The refills are little pricey but still worth the cost.

The best non-topical mosquito repellent on the market!!!
Folks… If you are looking for a mosquito repellent that actually works, this is it! I cannot believe the outstanding job it does in repelling mosquitoes!A few pieces of advice…. it is IMPERATIVE that the unit is placed outside 15 minutes (as instructed) before you go outside. This gives the repellent a chance to work. They are also NOT PLAYING when they say that it works in a 20-ft. area. If the area you need coverage for an area larger than that, you will need multiple units.Also, when the cartridge is down to the last few drops, just go ahead and replace the cartridge! Otherwise, mosquitoes will just attack you outta nowhere; there is no way to gauge how long those last few drops are going to last!Lastly, when you’re finished using it, make it a habit to charge it, so it’ll be ready to go the next time you need it!!I’ve taken this unit to other people’s homes for BBQ’s, outdoor concerts, and on the beach.The cartridges are expensive, but they do last awhile.Invest in this product because IT WORKS!!

It really works safely
I initially grabbed this from Costco because I hate mosquitoes, and while Citronella candles help, any open flames around dogs in a fire zone is dangerous. I was blown away by the effectiveness that was immediately shown. I had family visiting and they were also looking for something to help them too, except they have cats instead, and were worried about safety in a semi-enclosed part of their garden (like a greenhouse). They closely read up on product and safety, and wound up ordering right away. My neighbor even commented on mine and she got one for herself. Honestly VERY happy with this one.
