Smooth Easy Cuts
Cut through some 1-1/4″ Bradford Pear yesterday with ease. The jaw opens up plenty wide without a lot of spreading of the handles making use much more comfortable than my old ones. The wide lower jaw helps to keep cuts lined up and help to prevent binding.Great product. Great value.

Quality lopper
This WORKPRO lopper is rugged and the blades are sharp. It requires more force to open and close them over my old lopper. I suppose this will loosen over time. It cut a 1″ diameter Japanese maple branch very easily. I will not hesitate to buy this brand again.

Lopper
This is better than the one I’m replacing that I got at a big box store locally. It even has teeth on it to help cut through limbs with ease. Came very well packaged as well.

Fantastic addition to our garden tools. Heavy duty, durable.
Very impressed with this tool. It is amazingly durable and heavy duty. Strong enough to take out small branches with ease.

Works well…
This is a nice, solid piece of equipment. Nothing flaky about it. It cuts well but is quite tight and takes a little bit of effort to use. I have oiled it at a couple of key points to loosen things up and the mechanism should get easier to use as the oil works its way in.

Best Loppers I have ever used
I don’t write many reviews but these things are amazing. I have 4 acres of property and hundreds of trees about 70 of which I keep the branches elevated in my two acres of landscaped area. My old loppers gave way a few days ago and I replaced them with these Worker Anvil Loppers. Difference is night and day. Sliced right through about 100 limbs up to 1.5 inch diameter like butter. I would not hesitate to buy these.

well made geared mechanism and bumpers make this a great choice compared to other loppers
LopperThese anvil loppers are pretty average with the exception of the geared mechanism. I own one other pair of anvil loppers that is about the same size. It was only about $5 cheaper than this one, but significantly worse quality. I talk about the difference below. Overall, this is a nice tool. I would recommend it.GEARED MECHANISMThat is a huge plus since most loppers have the standard compound mechanism (I think that is what it is called). The geared mechanism makes the tool easier for the gardener to operate. Ratcheting loppers are another option. Other geared mechanism loppers I found on Amazon were usually at least $10 more. I think that is a big plus for this tool. The gears look to be made well and work great. Looking at other geared mechanism loppers, I feel like these gears appear to be hardier and more effective than others.COMPARISON TO ANOTHER LOPPERI have one other pair of anvil loppers that are compound. The main issue I noticed with it was that the anvil was damaged quickly. The blade began to cut into the anvil. The anvils are made of a softer material than the blades. The reason that happened was that the tool (unlike this tool) has no bumper. Therefore, the blade will hit the anvil with pressure after every cut. You can see in the pictures online of this lopper they have the bumper labeled as “shock absorbing bumper.” The tool stops where the bumpers meet and that prevents the shock from hitting the anvil. The funny thing is most of the ones you look at online, don’t seem to have any bumper, including some of the pricier tools.Another noticeable difference between this tool and my other one is how much effort it takes to open and close the lopper. The other tool it takes too little effort. If you hold that other tool one handle and turn the tool on its side, it will open itself with the other handle dropping down by gravity. This tool on the other hand takes significantly more effort to open and close. It didn’t show signs of being oiled at all when it came in. I haven’t had a chance to, but I think oil will help loosen it up some, so it is easier to work with.DIFFERENT PARTS/QUALITYThe blade came is very sharp. I don’t ever expect tools to come in perfectly sharp. There are maybe two tiny sections in the blade that could use some sharpening. I’ve had other tools that require sharpening like hatchets (including one pricy one) and a machete that didn’t come in sharp either. The loppers online are usually labeled with how thick of a branch they are able to cut. I wouldn’t push them to that limit, if you want your tool to last. If you need to cut thicker limbs, either invest in a more expensive/larger tool or just use a saw. There is a small gap between the anvil and where it attaches to the handles. Things (leaves and bark) will get stuck in that gap. It won’t influence how well the tool works. The other lopper I have, has the same issue. The gap in that one is even smaller, too.The handles, blade, and gears are all solid metal. The handles are made well and will last (I hate when handles are coated in something soft which eventually falls off.) You must use gloves with it of course to prevent sores on your hands and it might be slick when wet. I’d prefer this type of handle though and it is easy to clean.I’m assuming more expensive loppers are better than this, but I’m perfectly happy with this tool.If you are someone who just wants something to trim your tree’s deadwood off in the backyard occasionally, this is a perfect tool for it. It is designed for deadwood (not live, read below to learn more) and thus designed to be a strong tool. It should last for a long time. If you are the type who would use this tool daily or for thicker wood, perhaps a more expensive version would be good. But for the average home owner and gardener, I think it is an especially great choice. I see it lasting a long time. Other loppers may have extended handles and could be a little larger/longer (my other one is a little larger with the jaws opening a little wider). But this item’s geared mechanism and bumpers are advantages that other loppers of the same price lack (and some more expensive ones lack too). With some oiling and occasional sharpening, this will work great.TYPES OF LOPPERSI figured I’d include a little section on loppers for those who don’t understand the different types.Anvil loppers, like this one, are designed to cut dead wood off of trees and ideally shouldn’t be used on live wood. Anvil loppers, since they only have one blade cutting into the limb, tend to smash the limb while cutting through it. This does more damage to the plant they are cutting, compared to using bypass cutters.Bypass loppers are for cutting live wood. That is because, bypass loppers have two overlapping blades like scissors. They made a clean cut through a limb which does minimal damage and is ideal for pruning. Also, deadwood is harder to cut than live. Using bypass cutters on deadwood could damage your tool. You could probably get away with cutting live wood on tough trees like pines or trees away from your house, with an anvil, as long as you don’t overdo it. I would definitely invest in a bypass lopper if you plan to use it pruning more fragile trees/plants (or if your tree is unhealthy) like elms, magnolia tree, silver maple, dogwood, sugar maple, weeping willow, poplars, mimosa, and roses, for example.“Smashing” live wood with these types of loppers is more destructive and not good for the health of the tree. If you want your tree to be its healthiest invest in bypass loppers. They are about the same price as this item. They will help a tree stay strong, sturdy, and safe, as well as live a long time “Smashing” live limbs or over-pruning can make plants more susceptible to disease and fungus. It can also encourage weaker limbs to grow. Over-trimming lower branches might make the tree top-heavy too. Deciduous trees and fast-growing trees won’t handle the damage as well as evergreen trees like spruce and pine, too. They take longer to heal, especially in fall season.

Tree Trimmer
This trimmer is very solid and heavier than my other trimmers. I got it because I have a tree stump that’s constantly trying to regrow a shrub. It grows very fast so is quickly too thick for my regular shears to easily cut through. This trimmer has a large, strong blade. It cuts through branches and stems easily, but it feels like a mini workout because it takes a little effort to open and close. The blade also somehow isn’t sharp enough to cut through an expandable water hose which has a fabric exterior. Fortunately it does work well for what it’s supposed to cut (trees). Even though operating this trimmer itself feels like work, it cuts through everything with ease.I also like the extra long length because my tree stump is behind a raised bed. With this trimmer, I can reach the shrub without stepping into my raised bed.

Nice heavy duty lopper
This is a nice, heavy duty lopper that can easily cut through 1 1/2 inch thick branches. The gear mechanism will make cutting such a thick branch seem easy as the gears will provide the power behind the cut.The blades are nice and sharp. This is also somewhat heavy in weight and is very tight when you open and close the loppers. I would expect this to stay tight after use, which is good. This is made of solid metal so this should also have a long life. The handle grips are comfortable, but gloves would help your hands from blistering if using these for long periods of time. This is a good quality bypass style lopper. Any gardener would be happy to have these in their collection of tools.

Great Lopper’s
We had a set of loppers for 10+ years that we really loved, wondered if there could be a pair any better. This pair is better, everything about them is just better. Cuts thicker stuff easier, greater control on the cuts, better feeling handles, smoother movement. WORKPRO has become a trusted name in this house for quality hand tools at a great price, everything we’ve gotten from them is really great all around.

Workhorse
I love Workpro stuff. This is my first set of trimmers from the brand, replacing a pair of Fiskers used for 2–3 seasons. These things effortlessly lop branches. Like, the effort I use to move my arm is all it takes to cut a branch. I don’t usually feel resistance at all. That may change as the blades get duller, but right now I’m very happy with this tool, as it’s making my life much easier while saving my arms.

Wow! Awesome.
These came packaged securely and seemed super solid taking them out of the box. When I opened and closed them to test them out of the box, they felt a bit stiff (thought they would move more easily). However, when I took them out in the yard and started cutting branches… holy cow! This thing rocks. It’s super sharp and the geared mechanism seems to really help making the cut with ease. I cut something I thought it would have a hard time with (let’s just say quite a bit bigger than the branches they show in the pictures) and it sliced it with minimal effort. I’m really glad I got these. I have a ton of big photinia bushes and this is going to make trimming them so much easier.

Nice heavy duty loppers that work well
Nice price for a heavy duty lopper.. work quite well..Not ratchet but the gear does seem to provide a bit of extra torque….Worked perfectly on a bunch of a spring trimmingThey are a bit heavy but not really any heavier than others like it.. so not badWe like them

OK product-But they have an extendable model also:
Purpose for Product: Annual yard pruning.Product Inspection: Product appears to be sturdily built with really sharp blade. Gear designed action reportedly increasing cutting force. Blade appears to be replaceable.Product Performance: Doesn’t take me long to put these loppers into action. Upon delivery the action is really stiff. Thought that after a little use this would ease up, wrong. So, sprayed with common lubricant and slightly loosened the blade nuts, just slightly, made the cutting action much easier, didn’t alter the cut. Loppers cut as expected no surprises.Summary: This product appears to be sturdily built and should last many years with the ability for blade replacement. Price point is in line with comparable products. IMPORTANT NOTE: This company makes an almost identical product , EXCEPT, it is EXTENDABLE, my mistake that I didn’t do my research. This product will be fine but you will probably want the other model.

Strong
This is a good strong lopper, I was instantly struck by how much easier it was to cut through a thick branch than with my previous one. Of course a new lopper is sharper than one that has been used for a while, but even discounting that there is a noticeable difference. The only potential negative I found is that this one has no extension capability, but that may or may not matter to your use case. I am on the taller side so to me it’s nice to have the extra extension to reach down low without bending too much, and of course it’s nice to be able to reach further upwards as well, but in most cases the standard length lopper (such as this one) is plenty enough.

Gardening made easy!!!
Gardening made a LOT easier! These tree, branch, bush, cutters are wonderful. They are Sharp! The trimmers cut dead branches easily. I used then on some dead bushes, and some plants that needed trimming back from last year. I was amazed at the ease. The things I trimmed were half inch to one inch thick and it was quick trim. A five star for me!

Very nice loppers
These work well, exactly what i needed. They don’t ratchet, but the gearing definitely gives them more power. They take out most small branches in one squeeze. I’ve got a lot to use these for. I’ll update over time if they don’t continue to work as well over time. But so far i like them.

EXTREMELY impressed!!!
I’ve owned a few different loppers over the year, and these are easily, hands down, the absolute best! The gearing is incrediblly strong, to the extent that I was able to cut through solid pine branches that were at least 2 inches thick, maybe thicker, with absolute ease. VERY impressive. The hand grips are nice and soft and comfortable. The cutting face is super sharp, and it’s adjacent catching face has ridges to keep branches from rolling/slipping out while cutting. Great design, and worked excellent. I absolutely can’t say enough great thinks about how well built this lopper is, and how well it performs. I’ll definitely be buying this brand from now on instead of my previous favorite brand (starts with an F).

Good lopper for cutting up dead material
Since this is an anvil lopper I don’t use it on live wood but it works well for cutting up branches and brush during cleanup. That also means the length is sufficient since I will basically always work with material on the ground – not reaching up into existing growth.Works well its purpose, does not replace a good bypass lopper.

Thoughtful and tough!
I have to say I was very impressed with this tool!It is very well made the finish is very nice and I love that it has “teeth” on the opposing end of the blade/cutter. This allows it to keep a hold of the branch youre trying to cut… I have have always had issues where larger branches wanted to push out. There is even a nice bright green heavy rubber stop so when you break through a branch and the handles come together, its a soft blow and doesnt jar you.Excellent design and quality!

It’s all about the gearing
What an ingenious engineering design to incorporate gearing into this lopper, when others are just held/pivot together at a single point so that your arms have to do all the work. I was also dubious about the single-blade design, but the Workpro is great at holding a grip on a tree limb or root better than a double-blade. These loppers seem like they’ll last for a while as long as you properly maintain them.

Quality anvil lopper
On arrival, I could tell it was quality, all the pivot point hardware was made with thick gauge steel and chunky industrial hardware, the handles are strong enough to take the pressure of everyday use. It may not have the largest cutting capacity of a lopper, but it does what it can well and with little effort, the gear mechanism makes it easier to complete a cut. Be aware if it is hard to use at first, that it gets easier with use, ten to twenty cuts in and the hardware will loosen up to an easily usable level. It is also decently priced at 34USD.
